From the clients perspective choosing a builder you can trust and work with to build your new forever home or an investment property, is never an easy decision. We at Devrite fully understand this and appreciate that for most people this is one of the most significant financial and emotional decisions they will make in their lives.
When our most recent clients were asked what were the three top reasons they ultimately decided to build with Devrite they sighted the following simple but important factors.
Quote – “After speaking to several builders we felt that”
• “Devrite listened to what we wanted in our new home and didn’t dismiss initial plans and ideas that we had spent the last two years working on.”
• “Devrite worked with us on areas of the design where we were unsure as to what works best, given the ideas we already had.”
• “Devrite worked with us to make minor changes to give the home a more natural flow and to reduce the overall cost of the home.”
So basically for the most part and certainly in the initial stages we at Devrite just listened, this very simple aspect of what we did put our clients mind at ease from the very outset. It demonstrated to them that we cared enough to take what ever time it took to share their vision. It also clearly demonstrated how important this was to us in meeting their expectations. While other builders dismissed their ideas, we enhanced them and added valuable to them, while making meaningful suggestions in their best interest.
As part of our process and prior to signing any contracts or finalising any plans we arranged a site meeting at one of our work-in-progress sites, and then we took them through a recently completed house so they could meet and talk with the owners. In this way they could gauge first hand real life customer stories and more importantly their satisfaction, they to witness our attention to detail, and viewed our high standards of workmanship.
Fast forward a few weeks and after the demolition of the existing house and the earthworks were complete the slab was poured on the 19th of December 2019. We invited the clients and their two boys to watch the concrete slab of their new home being poured and, importantly to take part in Devrite’ s customary “throwing of the coins” a long standing Devrite good luck tradition where gold coins are thrown into the concrete mix .
Good luck coin slowly sinking into wet concrete, placed at the front door entry.
Whilst on site we were able to further point out and explain the many subtle details that we had already incorporated at this early stage, details that set Devrite apart from other builders and what we like to call the Devrite difference.
One of our key design and build philosophies is the 4 D’s – Deflection, Drainage, Drying and Durability.
We at Devrite believe the modern house should be designed to be healthy, durable and capable of being easily maintained. We also know the single most important factor affecting durability is deterioration of materials from moisture.
We strongly believe walls should be constructed utilising materials that will not rot or be affected by termites and should be protected from moisture. We also understand that some moisture will penetrate though absorption and minor gaps around window and door frames so it is critical that the design allows for drainage and drying. No one wants unhealthy mould and mildew in their house.
Pictured below is something you will not see every day. Start right and finish right, every corner of a Devrite home, be it internal and external is accurately surveyed and marked by using state of the art GPS technology. This insures our homes are 100% dimensionally correct and square.
From the durability and health point of view water proofing the slab edge is extremely important, and is only one of 137 individual elements incorporated into Devrites Healthy House Protocols, for us it is all about attention to detail and it starts from the ground up.
Something you don’t see every day. Note: bitumen water proofing to edge of slab (black) with grey termite treatment on lower section.
If you look closely you can see two survey points on the footing.
Attention to detail. Concrete curing of the slab is important. Using a sand bund around the perimeter we ponded the slab to allow for slow controlled hydration in the hot weather.
After 14 years of operating machines including a 400 ton excavator in the mining industry, I couldn’t resist the urge to jump onto this little 1.5 ton beauty,
